NDO – A ceremony to inaugurate a bust of President Ho Chi Minh took place in Vladivostok city, Russia on July 5 as an activity celebrating Vietnam – Russia Friendship Year 2019.

The 2.3m-hight bust was created by local sculptor Peter Chegodaev and it was placed at a flower garden in Borisenko street.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnam's Consul General in Vladivostok Nguyen Hoang Viet stressed that President Ho Chi Minh laid the foundation for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia.

The construction of the bust came from the sincere aspirations of not only the overseas Vietnamese community in Russia but also people in the host country.

For his part, Mayor of Vladivostok city, Oleg Gumenyuk expressed his belief that President Ho Chi Minh’s bust will become a tourist attraction, saying that the square hosting the venue manifests the Russia – Vietnam friendship.

Chairman of Vladivostok City Duma, Andrei Brik emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh was a great friend of Russia, who had laid a firm foundation for the bilateral ties; and an enthusiastic supporter of solidarity among nations.

He hailed the President’s bust as a symbol of friendship and mutual understanding between peoples of the two countries.
