Japan provides training for Vietnamese outstanding officials

On July 24, in Hanoi, The Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, JICA Vietnam Office in collaboration with the Department of International Cooperation under Ministry of Education and Training organised a meeting with 63 outstanding young officials, who will participate in Master's and Doctoral training courses at top Japanese universities.

The outstanding young officials are gifted people who have received full scholarships under the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship Program (JDS), implemented by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Of these 63 outstanding young officers, 60 will depart for Japan in August 2019 to attend a master's course and three will attend a doctoral programme.

JDS is a full scholarship covering tuition, airfares, a monthly living allowance and other grants, first employed in Vietnam in 2000. The JDS will provide masters courses in various areas, such as: public economy, public administration, urban development, energy, agriculture and rural development, environment, responding to climate change and environmental disasters.

As of March, 2019, after 19 years of implementation, 573 Vietnamese citizens have received JDS scholarships to study in Japan. Of those, 481 students completed the course, returning home and actively participated in contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam, as well as developing the Vietnam-Japan strategic relationship, according to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Hai An.
