Vietnam’s National Day celebrated in Russia

The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held a ceremony in Moscow on September 9 to celebrate the 74th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945-2019).

The event was attended by Special Representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy; officials from the Russian parliament and foreign ministry; ambassadors and chargé d'affaires of foreign diplomatic corps; Russian and international friends; officials and employees at the Vietnamese embassy; and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.

In his address, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh hailed the advent of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) 74 years ago as a glorious milestone in the history of Vietnam.

Since that historic moment, the Vietnamese people have demonstrated solidarity, bravery and steadfastness, overcoming numerous difficulties and challenges to attain significant victories in the struggle for national independence and freedom and the resoluteness of defending sovereignty and constructing the country, the diplomat said.

He asserted that Vietnam always pursues a foreign policy of peace and comprehensive international integration, and remains willing to be a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community.

In that context, Vietnam always strives to strengthen its traditional friendly relations and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, Manh said, adding that the country constantly recalls the huge and effective support offered by the Soviet people in its past struggle for national independence and freedom as well as in the post-war period of national construction.

The ambassador voiced his belief that the friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia will continue to thrive for peace, stability and prosperity of each country and for the whole world.

Addressing the event, Mikhail Shvydkoy expressed his admiration and respect for Vietnam and its people, affirming that under the bright leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the heroic Vietnamese nation, always shows its desire for peace, cooperation and co-development with every country around the world.

He also took pleasure at the close bonds between the two countries as well as the increasingly deepened Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership across all fields, including the economy, culture, education, humanitarian and defence.

In a joyful atmosphere, delegates together enjoyed the traditional musical performances delivered by Vietnamese artists, in addition to the unique dishes imbued with Vietnamese identities.
