Underprivileged children nationwide enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival

A wide range of activities have been held throughout Vietnam to bring a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival to disadvantaged and underprivileged children.

In the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, provincial leaders presented gifts to nearly 100 orphans and children with disabilities who are being raised at a childcare centre at Long Tho Temple.

Local leaders inquired after the Buddhist nuns, the centre’s staff and the children and wished them a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

In Thua Thien-Hue’s mountainous district of Nam Dong, a Mid-Autumn programme was held for poor children by the youth union of the provincial social welfare department, children protection fund and teachers training college.

A similar programme was also held in Phong Dien district where poor children took part in traditional games and a lantern procession.

* In the central province of Quang Ninh, the Fatherland Front established working teams to visit and present Mid-Autumn gifts to children with disabilities and orphans at special educational facilities.

Meanwhile in the northern province of Ninh Binh, the provincial labour union held a Mid-Autumn Festival for 150 children of underprivileged workers with good academic performance in the districts of Nho Quang, Gia Vien, Hoa Lu and in Ninh Binh City.
