Politburo member Hue made the remark at a ceremony held on September 28 to review Ha Tinh’s 10-year implementation of the National Target Programme on New Rural Development (NTP-NRD) in the 2010-2020 period.

He praised the province for the full, serious and timely implementation of the Government’s NRD-related guidelines, with many of its good NRD models having been replicated across the country.

The deputy PM also pointed out some shortcomings in new-style rural area building in Ha Tinh, including the low income per capita, the modest number of businesses investing in agriculture and the slow shifting of agricultural structure.

He urged the province to consider NRD planning in association with the arrangement of commune- and district-level administrative units in the time ahead, in addition to continuing to mobilise and use resources for the NRD programme as well as developing rural transport towards sustainability.

The official agreed on Ha Tinh’s designing of the provincial-level NRD project for the 2021-2025 period.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Hue and the provincial leaders presented certificates of recognition to 13 communes that met the NRD criteria and three communes that satisfied the advanced NRD criteria.

At the end of the conference, Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Hung officially launched the emulation movement “The whole province joins hands to build new-style rural areas” in the 2021-2025 period.
