The event was organised by the Ministry of Health’s Support Fund for Cancer Patients – For a Bright Future in coordination with Vietnam Television.

It saw the presence of Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai; and PCC Secretary and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man.

Addressing the event, VFF President Tran Thanh Man spoke highly of the organisation of the event as well as the practical activities hosted by the Support Fund for Cancer Patients over recent years.

He called for more communication campaigns to raise public awareness on healthcare and disease prevention, particularly terminal illness. He also asked for further support for underprivileged people, including cancer patients.

At the programme, the organising board called on people across the country to join a charitable texting programme to support the poor via the national humanitarian portal 1406, with each message costing VND15,000.

A campaign on breast cancer screening was also launched on the occasion.
