Vietnam hosts international conference on language assessment

An international conference on language assessment was held by the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), Vietnam National University, in Hanoi on October 16-18.

The conference entitled “Language Assessment: Principles, Policies and Practices” aimed to discuss trends and experiences in developing national standardised exams, the impact of language assessment policies on social education, and the trend of applying technology in innovating language assessment.

The event attracted the participation of leading international speakers, experts, professors, researchers and lecturers in the field of foreign languages assessment.

Speaking at the opening session, ULIS Rector Do Tuan Minh, as the official member of the Asian Association for Language Assessment (AALA), said that the ULIS has cooperated closely with its partners to carefully prepare for this event.

The conference was also expected to open new cooperative opportunities among members of the AALA, he noted.

As many as 171 articles by authors from 19 countries and territories were sent to the workshop, in which 65 articles and 16 posters were selected for presentation at the workshop.
