First two provinces complete task of building new-style rural areas

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has just signed Decisions 1422/QD-TTg and 1423/QD-TTg on recognising Nam Dinh and Dong Nai as the country's first two provinces to complete the task of building new-style rural areas in 2019.

By the end of July 2019, Nam Dinh Province has 100% of the communes, towns and all 10 districts of the city meeting all criteria of new-styled rural areas.

The Deputy PM assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with relevant ministries, sectors and the People's Committees of the provinces of Nam Dinh and Dong Nai to organise a ceremony to announce the Government's decisions as prescribed.

The People's Committees of Nam Dinh and Dong Nai are responsible for continuing to maintain and improve the quality of new-style rural communes and districts, with a focus on criteria of production, environment, culture, and security and order, to ensure sustainability in building new-style rural areas.

After nearly nine years of building new-style rural areas, by the end of July 2019, Nam Dinh Province has 100% of the communes, towns and all 10 districts of the city meeting all criteria of new-styled rural areas.

Meanwhile, as of May 2019, Dong Nai Province has all 133 communes and 11 districts and cities meeting the standards, completing the task of building new-styled rural areas.

Income per capita in the rural areas of the province reached nearly VND51.6 million per year in 2018, an increase of nearly 3 times compared to 2011. The proportion of poor households decreased from 6.62% in 2011, to only 0.09% in 2019.
