First Vietnam Memory Championships held

The final round of the first Vietnam Memory Championships took place in Ho Chi Minh on October 20.

The event, which followed the rules and events of the World Memory Championships, was held by the Vietnam Records Organisation (Vietkings).

The final drew the participation of 100 candidates competing in four age-groups, under 12s, age 13–17s, ager 18–59s and above 60s.

They underwent 10 memory events, including one-hour numbers, 5-minute numbers, 30-minute binary digits and 15-minute random lists of words.

At the awards ceremony, the gold prize worth VND300 million (US$13,000) went to Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh while Vo Thanh Liem and Dang Thu Hien secured the silver and bronze prizes, respectively.

They will represent Vietnam at the World Memory Championships 2019 in Wuhan, China.
