Ceremony honours 112 outstanding intellectuals

The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) held a ceremony on November 2 to honour 112 outstanding intellectuals for their contributions to national industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.

VUSTA President Dang Vu Minh stated that the event reflects the Party and State’s recognition of intellectuals’ role in national development.

Among the 112 honourees, the VUSTA selected the 12 most outstanding intellectuals representing various fields of science-technology and regions of the country to receive the Prime Minister’s certificates of merits.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam presented the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit to the exemplary intellectuals.

Three of the intellectuals recommended to be awarded with the Labour Order were Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, President of the Binh Dinh Union of Science and Technology Associations; Nguyen Huu Gioi, President of the Vietnam Library Association; and Pham Huy Thu, member of the Vinh Phuc Union of Science and Technology Association.

Earlier, on November 1, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted a reception for the outstanding intellectuals at the National Assembly House.
