Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy marks 40th anniversary

Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy held a ceremony on December 7 to mark its 40th anniversary in the presence of Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

The Vice President presented 17 Labour Orders and eight Certificates of Merit from the Government to collectives and individuals working at the university.

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh appreciated the role of the university which has contributed to improving the quality of the health sector and providing human resource training for the Mekong Delta region and the entire country.

She said that the health sector in the Mekong Delta region has made great strides in the areas of quality of human resources, the number of doctors and pharmacists, facilities, and the hospital system thanks to the contribution of a number of local hospitals and universities, including the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The university is running seven faculties, 15 functional centres and a 250-bed hospital with a total staff of 651.

Rector of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nguyen TrungKienemphasised that the university will continue to diversity its models of training and renew training content and curriculum to meet the higher demand from the society.

In addition, the university will develop its hospital into a general hospital with modern equipment to reduce the workload for central-level hospitals, Kien noted.

On the occasion, the Vice President presented 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students.
