PM urges youth to take lead in building and defending the Fatherland

The Government will continue to accompany Vietnamese youth to help the country’s future owners to become talented, virtue people, who take the lead in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed.

The cabinet leader was speaking during a dialogue with nearly 1,000 young people, representing over 9.9 million members of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) nationwide. The event took place at the closing session of the 8th VYF eight National Congress in Hanoi on December 12.

After nearly three hours discussing in a frank and sincere manner, PM Phuc and his cabinet members listened to and answered the questions, as well as the thoughts and aspirations of youngsters at the dialogue.

PM Phuc acknowledged that the comments the youth contributed to the Government at the event were on a number of important policies, which facilitated the Government’s administration in some youth-related areas. In particular, there are good suggestions that affirmed the youth's determination for the cause of national construction and defence. Expressing his sincere thanks to them, PM Phuc stated that Vietnam's achievements today have been contributed by the youth.

However, according to him, the complicated situation in the world and the region poses challenges for Vietnam and young people. He urged the VYF to continue to mobilise the participation of a large number of young people at home and abroad to join hands for the national development.

The Government would cooperate better with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the VYF to create a better environment for Vietnamese youth to promote their talent to serve the nation, PM Phuc affirmed.

Later the same day, PM Phuc attended the closing session of the 8th VYF National Congress, in which he affirmed that youth is the decisive factor for the success of the revolution and socialist construction. He also expressed his desire that the VYF continues to strongly demonstrate the role of gathering Vietnamese youth both at home and abroad and help them promote their talents to serve the Fatherland.

At the closing session, the 8th VYF Central Committee with 137 members officially made their debut. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, holds the position of the Chairman of the 8th VYF, term 2019-2024.
