Hanoi’s ten most outstanding young faces of 2019 announced

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi has announced the ten most outstanding young faces of 2019, who are individuals with outstanding achievements in the fields of study and scientific research; creative labour - economic development; culture and arts; security and defence.

Field of study and scientific research

1. Bui Hong Duc, a student of the Natural Science High School for Gifted Students under University of Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi

Duc took home the platinum award at the Asia Pacific Math Olympiad 2014; the gold medal at the China International Mathematics Competition 2015; the gold medal at the Singapore Mathematical Olympiads Competition2016; the gold medal at the Singapore National Olympiad in Informatics 2018; the silver medal at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2019; and the gold medal from the International Olympiad in Informatics 2019.

Bui Hong Duc is also a typical young face from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in 2018, once volunteering to teach under the CodeCamp Project at the Hanoi Star Primary and Secondary School.

2. Dr. Tran Phuong Thao, lecturer of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Hanoi University of Pharmacy

Dr. Tran Phuong Thao owns five patent rights (co-author) in 2018; 9 ISI International publications from 2018 to 2019; and 12 publications in national magazine from 2018 to 2019.

She chaired a state-level science project (NAFOSTED) for the period of 2017-2020 which is currently progressing ahead of schedule. She is a key research member of three other State projects. She also chaired two grassroot-level science projects in the period of 2018-2019. She received the certificate of merit from the Minister of Health for her outstanding achievements in implementing tasks and work plans for the school year 2018-2019; the title of advanced youth following Uncle Ho’s teachings in 2019 by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi.

3. Ha Viet Hoang, a second-year student of the branch of Electronics and Telecommunications of Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Viet Hoang displayed a very impressive performance at the Vietnam Super Brain 2019 programme. He won the first prize of the Intellectual Discovery Contest 2019 at the University of Science and Technology's K63 Summer Camp; third prize at the World Cultural Discovery Contest 2019 in the International Student Culture Festival held by the University of Science and Technology.

4. Dr. Bui Hung Thang, Director of the Centre for Technology Application and Deployment - Institute of Materials Science - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology

Dr. Bui Hung Thang has two patents already granted to him by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam and eight patent applications accepted in 2019; scientific publications of four articles in international magazines (including two ISI articles, one Scopus article) and two articles published in national magazines; participating in training three graduate students and one MA student.

Dr. Bui Hung Thang also implemented the application of scientific and technological results. In 2019, he had three patents, including “LED Liquid Cooling” by the Minh Quang Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and Dong Anh Aluminum Factory applied in trial production; “Self-convective liquid-cooled LED bulbs” are being applied by Haledco Trade Promotion & Technology Co., Ltd. to products; “The process of making silicone radiator cream containing Graphene" is being applied by Haledco Trade Promotion & Technology Co., Ltd. to some LED products.

5. Pham Kim Hung, CEO - Founder of TechElite and BASE Inc

Pham Kim Hung graduated from Stanford University and is currently CEO and Founder of TechElite and BASE Inc. Starting in 2016 and officially launched in 2017, Base - a technology startup was built on the business management platform Software –as-a-Service, founded by Stanford alumni Pham Kim Hung. This is the first Saas platform in the region built to unify the process of corporate governance and administration from personnel, job management, financial management to sales-marketing, currently having more than 20 applications and nearly 500 corporate customers.

6. Duong Danh Dat, Deputy Head of Ly Thai To Ward’s police, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi

Duong Danh Dat investigated and discovered the case in a mysterious crime No.215H16VA0518/10105G dated May 23, 2018, arresting two subjects of illegal drug transportation at 22:00 on July 27, 2018 at the Phap Van - Cau Gie toll station, Lien Ninh commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi. He was honoured to receive the third-class Feat Order of the President, in December, 2019.

7. Vuong Thi Huyen, weightlifter, Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Centre

Vuong Thi Huyen, a member of the Hanoi weightlifting team and the national weightlifting team since 2005, has achieved many outstanding achievements. In 2019, she won three gold medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championships; one gold medal at the SEAgames 30; two gold medals, one silver medal at the 2019 World Cup, one bronze medal at the World Weightlifting Championship. She also received the certificate of merit from the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee (2018), and the certificate of merit from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (2015, 2016, 2017).

8. Le Trang Linh, Piano Department, Vietnam National Academy of Music

Le Trang Linh won the first prize in the Piano category for the age of 15 at the 22nd Val Tidone International Music Competitions held in Italy; first prize at the 9th International Competition Piano Talents in Milan, Italy; and a special prize and gold award for optional work and silver award for mandatory work in the 20th Kyushu Music Concour 2018 held in Japan.

Field of volunteering for community life

9. Hoang Hoa Trung, Head of Faith Group

Hoang Hoa Trung has made many contributions to create positive changes for society. With his special talent for observing and turning "waste products" into money, since 2003, Trung and his friends in the volunteer group regularly visited ceramic production facilities in Bat Trang (Gia Lam, Hanoi) to collect defective ceramic products for sale at book fairs, raising funds to help poor children and building upland schools.

In addition to building school sites, the Faith Group also started to offer lunch for poor students with the Raising Children Project, from 6-2015 up to now. There are tens of thousands of meals for children deployed.

10. Le Huong Giang, Student of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Huong Giang is a confident and ambitious youth who knows how to overcome bad luck. When she was born, one eye of Jiang completely failed, the other eye had only 1/10 eyesight, until the 6th grade year, retinopathy regression disease robbed the light of the other eye.

With the dream of becoming a Master of Ceremonies (MC), overcoming difficulties, Giang persevered in learning and practicing life skills (learning to play music instrument, sing, draw, use computers and smart phones). As a result, Giang won many awards such as: bronze medal at the "Challenge of information technology with young people with global disabilities" held in the Republic of Korea. At the the Festival “Beauty of the Crescent Moon 2019", Giang won the title of first runner-up. Huong Giang was also the first blind MC on Vietnam Television.
