Entitled “The Power of Charity”, the programme aims to call on enterprises and good Samaritans to generously make donations to the poor and honour individuals and organisations for joining hands with the Red Cross Society in its philanthropic work in 2019.

According to the Red Cross Society Vice Chairman Nguyen Hai Anh, a similar programme last year raised an impressive VND187 million (US$8 million) while in action.

In 2019, the Red Cross Society of Vietnam spent VND4.3 trillion (US$185 million) on charitable pursuits, helping more than 21.1 million disadvantaged people throughout the country.

As part of the 2019 programme, the organisers will also honour the best 12 works in a charity-themed TV reportage contest that will be jointly held by the Red Cross Society and the Nhan Dan Television Centre.

The contest took place from May to October 201 and attracted the participation of 150 works.
