The Vietnamese-American, T.K.H, was the oldest Covid-19 patient discovered in the country so far. He was hospitalised at the HCM City Hospital of Tropical Diseases on January 31 with Covid-19 symptoms after entering Vietnam from China’s Wuhan city – the epicentre of the global coronavirus – on January 15. T.K.H then was confirmed infected with the new coronavirus.
The patient was treated in isolation following the Ministry of Health (MoH)’s regimen with respiratory support. He recovered well and his medical samples showed negative for the virus on February 17. T.K.H continued to be monitored and cared for until he completely recovered. His subsequent test results were negative again for Covid-19.
Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Director of HCM City Hospital of Tropical Diseases said that the patient was completely healthy and qualified to be discharged from the hospital after three weeks of hospitalisation for isolation treatment.
Chau added that before being discharged, the patient had 10 days negative for Covid-19 but he had to undergo further treatment for other diseases. Currently, the patient is completely healthy and can’t spread the disease to others, he stressed.

The latest release of T.K.H has left only one Covid-19 infection case still in hospital in the northern province of Vinh Phuc. Up until now, 15 out of 16 confirmed cases in Vietnam have recovered from the deadly virus.
T.K.H is the third patient positive for Covid-19 treated in Ho Chi Minh City. Earlier, the two Chinese father and son, who were the first two confirmed cases in the country, had previously been treated at Cho Ray Hospital and were discharged on February 12.
* On Friday (February 21) morning, a representative from Cho Ray Hospital confirmed that the hospital has received a thank-you letter from Li ZiChao, the son among the Chinese duo infected with Covid-19 that have already recovered.
In his letter, Li ZiChao expressed his deep gratitude from his family and himself to the Vietnamese doctors and health workers who dedicated themselves to curing him and his father, Li Ding.
“It was the Vietnamese doctors and nurses who treated us with all of their hearts. We understand that it is your kindness that saved us and that we will remember forever. We will return to beautiful Vietnam again at an appropriate time in the future and return to Cho Ray to express our most sincere thanks", Li ZiChao wrote in his letter.
* As of this morning, Da Nang city recorded no cases of isolation or follow-up at local medical facilities due to Covid-19 suspected contracting. Currently, there are 116 samples tested negative for Covid-19 and Da Nang has not found any positive case yet.

* On the same day, the Cao Bang Provincial Health Department said that all 875 local citizens being isolated in Cao Bang after returning from China are in normal health, without signals of Covid-19 infection.
* On February 21, at the concentrated isolation area located at Centre Way Co., Ltd. In Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, the local authorities handed over 73 citizens to the Provincial Military Command to carry out isolation according to the general plan of Military Region 3.
They have been isolated for three days in Mong Cai and given negative Covid-19 test results. The citizens will move to the quarantine are at the Provincial Military School in Uong Bi city, where they will continue to be isolated for 14 days according to the regulations of the MoH.

* The Vietnam Youth and Student Association in the Czech Republic has collaborated with Vietnamese businesses and donors in the Central European country to raise fund worth nearly VND250 million to purchase medical supplies to send to Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province to support the local authorities and people in the fight against Covid-19.
The entire amount of cash has been converted into necessities, including 40,000 medical masks, ten thousand pairs of gloves, nearly 140 specialised clothes for doctors, 30 body thermometers and thousands of bottles of solutions and disinfectant towels.

Overseas Vietnamese youth and students in the Czech Republic have purchased and packed medical supplies to send home to support Vinh Phuc province in the fight against Covid-19.
The above necessities have arrived in Vietnam and will be transferred directly to the people of Binh Xuyen district by the provincial authorities. It is expected that the next shipments from the Czech Republic will be delivered to Vinh Phuc province early next week.
According to the MoH, as of 6:30 pm on February 21, 76,793 people worldwide have contracted Covid-19 in 30 countries and territories, with 2,236 people died in mainland China alone among 2,249 deaths worldwide.
