The protective clothing worth approximately VND1 billion (US$42,440) will be sent to medical workers in the front lines of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each protective suit includes a hat, jumpsuit, shoes, a face mask, gloves and goggles.

President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Golden Time Group in such an urgent period, affirming that the aid is of great significance in the context of a shortage of protective equipment.

The protective suits will be sent to hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Thu noted that the Vietnam Red Cross Society is participating in the dissemination of information on the prevention and fight against the pandemic and mobilising people to donate blood.

*A total of over VND126 billion (US$5.35 million) had been raised via a texting campaign for Vietnam’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as at 11am on April 5, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The campaign was launched on March 19 by the ministry, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Health, and the Vietnam Red Cross Society to call for public support for the country’s COVID-19 relief efforts.

Donors can donate by texting “CV n” to 1407, of which “n” is the multiple of VND20,000 (US$0.85), which is also the cost of each message.
