NDO – A large number of people and armed forces have participated in the voluntary blood donation festivals held nationwide over the past few days in response to the appeal from Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of “All-people blood donation day” (April 7), aiming to serve the surging need for blood amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

On April 8, officials, teachers and employees working in the education sector of Dak Lak province’s Buon Ma Thuot City, together with 350 police officers of the Provincial Police and a large crowd of people, registered for voluntary blood donation, resulting in 243 units of blood being collected and provided for local hospitals in service of treatment and emergency.

To minimise the risk of blood shortages during the COVID-19 prevention and control period, the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee has called on units to continue mobilising locals to actively give blood, requesting that the organisation of blood donation festivals must ensure anti-epidemic requirements, including avoiding gathering in groups of many people at the same time, preparing antibacterial solutions and instructing participants to wear masks at donation points.
