According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, since the morning of April 16, Vietnam has not recorded any new cases of COVID-19, while six more patients are expected to be discharged today.
Among the total confirmed cases, as many as 216 patients, or 81%, have fully recovered, with the latest recovery being Patient 248, who was treated at Cu Chi field hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and was announced to be fully recovered yesterday.
There are 52 cases still under treatment nationwide, including twelve people who have tested negative for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once and eight people twice.
More than 67,000 people are currently in quarantine. Of those, 358 people are at hospitals, 18,263 people are at concentrated quarantine centres and the remaining 48,401 people in self-quarantine at home.
* On April 21, Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, visited doctors and medical staff at the Thong Nhat Hospital to encourage them for their tireless efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
* On the same day, under the authorisation of Minister of Public Security General To Lam, Lieutenant General Truong Van Thong, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department under the Ministry of Public Security awarded 70,000 medical masks to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam, through which the embassy would provide the face masks to relevant Russian security and law enforcement agencies. Thong also presented a letter from Minister To Lam to the leaders of these agencies, encouraging them in the fight against the epidemic.

On April 21 afternoon, the Hanoi’s chapter of Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee presented 117 gifts, worth nearly VND60 million in total, to Long Bien Ward People's Committee to support local disadvantaged households. The agency also offered 1,000 disinfection cloth masks to the Long Bien Steering Committee for epidemic prevention and control.
Earlier the same day, the Hanoi’s VFF Committee received donation worth VND456 million from 10 organisations and individuals supporting the city’s COVID-19 fight. To date, the VFF Committee of Hanoi has received support valued at over VND101 billion.
* On the afternoon of the same day, Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO 3) awarded Binh Thuan Province General Hospital a negative pressure isolation room worth nearly VND600 million to support COVID-19 treatment. So far, the province has recorded 39 consecutive days without any new infections. Previously, all nine recorded cases in the locality recovered and were integrated back into the community after being discharged from the hospital.
* On April 21, the VFF Committee of Thua Thien - Hue Province received VND1 billion donated by Taseco Land Investment JSC and Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC (VND500 million each) to support the provincial health workers in fighting COVID-19.
