The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) has announced that, through a two-week #SocialForGoodVN campaign on Facebook, the agency has raised more than VND10 billion, including cash and in-kind support, to assist Vietnam’s COVID-19 fight.
On April 17, the livestream #SocialForGoodVN programme was broadcast live for 1 hour on Facebook, attracting the participation of more than 90 famous artists and celebrities to call for support in the fight against the pandemic.
All money and items collected from the community and businesses will be sent to the VRCS to support health workers and people in medical isolation.
On May 8, the Vietnam Coast Guard High Command and the provincial authorities of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai presented gifts to fishermen in difficult circumstances in the two central coastal localities.
More than 400 gift packages, including cash, rice and face masks, were handed over to the fishermen residing in the communes of Tam Giang and Tam Quang, in Quang Nam’s Nui Thanh District, and the communes of Binh Dong and Binh Thanh in Quang Ngai’s Binh Son District.

On the same day, the Quang Ngai Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation’s Quang Ngai branch presented 10 tonnes of rice to 1,000 disadvantaged households and local workers affected by COVID-19.
Dien Bien provincial authorities have decided to exempt and reduce water bills by 15-50% for three consecutive months (April, May and June 2020) for some local units and households in order to ease difficulties for them amid the epidemic.
Also on May 8, the national women’s football team led by head coach Mai Duc Chung came to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee headquarters to present VND30 million donated by the team members to support the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Vietnam.
On the same day, the Military Command of Thua Thien Hue Province awarded certificates of 14-day isolation completion to 33 Vietnamese citizens returning from Laos.
The Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital has announced the resumption of outpatient medical examination and treatment from May 11. However, to ensure the highest safety for patients and medical staff, Bach Mai Hospital requires that patients, their relatives and visitors must strictly comply with providing medical declaration, checking body temperature, disinfecting hands and wearing face masks at the hospital.
