The head of government also highlighted the role of its people-centric approach and public support in keeping the virus in check.

Vietnam has so far recorded 324 cases of Covid-19 with zero deaths, while 266 have recovered and it has been more than a month without any new case of community transmission.

In the interview with Bloomberg, Akahata and TASS, the PM underlined the principle of “fighting the outbreak like fighting the enemy”, which has seen the joint efforts of the entire society and political system in curbing the coronavirus.

He stated that in the wake of the outbreak’s adverse impacts, the Vietnamese government has introduced various measures to support the economy and ensure social security for the people.

To date, Vietnam has essentially curbed the outbreak and transitioned to a new normal, said PM Phuc, noting that Vietnam will strive to achieve growth of 4.5-5% for 2020.

The Vietnamese leader also highlighted the country’s international cooperation in facing the pandemic and extended his thanks to foreign media for their coverage and unbiased reports on the situation with the virus in Vietnam and the positive results achieved.
