Needy people nationwide receive support

As many as 500 disadvantaged people in the districts of Hai Chau and Thanh Khe, in the central city of Da Nang, were supported in buying goods at the Humanitarian Market on May 24.

At the market, organised by the Red Cross Association of Da Nang City, each person was provided with a free coupon worth VND150 million each.

The beneficiaries are those who have lost their income due to the COVID-19 epidemic; poor and near poor households; households with people with disabilities; people over 65 years of age; pregnant women, single women raising children, etc.

Also, on May 24, the Youth Union of the Da Nang City in coordination with the Da Nang Federation of Labour presented 300 gifts worth a total of VND450 million to workers affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.

In addition, the organisers also granted 2.1 tonnes of rice and 120 gifts to 120 workers at the Lien Chieu industrial park and provided free medical check-ups and medicine for 500 workers in Hoa Khanh industrial park.

On the same day, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi assisted 2,000 disadvantaged teachers in nine districts: Dong Da, Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Nam Tu Liem, Hai Ba Trung, Hoang Mai, Ha Dong, Cau Giay, and Dong Anh.

Each teacher was provided with 20kg of rice. In addition, 110 non-public preschool teachers living in difficult circumstances in the districts of Ha Dong and Hoang Mai also received an additional VND1 million each.
