On June 6, the highest temperatures in the Red River Delta will be around 35-37C while the mercury is expected to reach 36-38C in north-central provinces.
The number of hours with temperatures above 35C is 10-17 while the lowest level of humidity is in the range of 45-55%.
In Hanoi highest temperatures will be 35-37C with showers and thunderstorms forecast to occur later in the day.
The weather agency warns that the ultraviolet index in the capital city and the central city of Da Nang is 7-9, meaning a high or very high risk of harm to the human body when exposed directly to the sunlight.
It also warns of fire risks in residential areas due to an increased power demand and forest fires in central-region provinces.
Over the coming hours, medium and heavy rains are forecast for the northern, midland and mountainous regions, with very high rainfall of 50-70mm expected in some parts of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and Cao Bang provinces.
