This is the first flight on an international route in Vietnam’s aviation industry operated by the Youth Union of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation.

Specifically, this special flight was implemented by captain Tran Viet Dung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Flight Crew Division 919; chief flight instructor Pham Hung Long, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Cabin Crew Division; and flight crew members who are youth union members of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation.

The flight VN319, using a new-generation aircraft Airbus A321neo, departed from Narita, Japan at 10.55am on July 27 and safely landed at Da Nang International Airport at 10.45pm the same day.

All the crew members had their body temperature measured and were equipped with full-body medical protective suits. The passengers also received body temperature measurements before boarding and had to wear full-body medical protective suits during the flight.

After landing in Da Nang to drop passengers for concentrated quarantine, the aircraft flew without passengers to a base airport in Ho Chi Minh City and was disinfected there.

Under the Prime Minister’s direction, Vietnamese authorities, Vietnam’s overseas representative agencies, and domestic airlines have organised flights to carry home Vietnamese citizens in special circumstances from foreign countries.

In the near future, more flights will be arranged to take Vietnamese citizens home, on the basis of citizens’ needs, domestic quarantine capacity and the future development of the COVID-19 pandemic.
