The first section of Line 3 between Nhon and Hanoi Station is under construction and expected to enter service next year.

In a report submitted to the central government, construction and equipment installation will take place during the 2022-2027 period after it is approved by the National Assembly.

The extended section is scheduled to begin operation in 2028.

Most of the 8.7-kilometre extension will run underground along the streets of Tran Hung Dao, Tran Thanh Tong, Kim Nguu and Tam Trinh through seven stations, with the terminal at Yen So in Hoang Mai District.

The line is expected to serve 124,000 passengers per day by 2030 with its daily ridership projected to increase to 295,000.
