The city’s senior leader chaired an online meeting on August 6 to discuss measures to cope with COVID-19 spread in the capital city.
At the meeting, Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien announced that as of August 6, the capital city recorded 96,479 people who have returned from Da Nang – the current hotspot for COVID-19 in Vietnam – from July 8 to present. The city conducted RT-PCR tests for 586 cases, of which 582 were negative, as well as offering rapid tests for more than 72,000 cases. all positive tests among them showed negative results when re-tested using the RT-PCR technique.
Hue, who is also a Politburo member, demanded the local authorities to do better the work of tracing those who have returned from COVID-19-hit areas and carrying out PCR testing on a large scale, with priority given to the close contacts of COVID-19 patients.
He also asked to absolutely safely organise the upcoming national high school graduation exams and the Party congresses at all levels, in addition to well prepare all resources to meet the highest level of epidemic prevention and control requirements and to be ready to support COVID-19-hit localities of Da Nang City and Quang Nam.
The Hanoi senior leader also asked the city to maintain production and trading as well as circulation of essential goods to fully meet the requirements of serving local residents in all situations.
* On the same day, Binh Dinh Province sent 25 doctors, medical technicians, nurses and midwives to support Da Nang in the epidemic prevention and control.

* Da Nang on August 6 coordinated with the Military Region 5 to continue disinfecting some local areas to prevent COVID-19 from spreading on a large scale.
* On the same day, Quang Ngai Province established a field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients at the second facility of the Binh Son District Medical Centre, with 100 inpatient beds. Quang Ngai has tightened measures to combat cross-contamination at local health facilities and accelerated the tracing of cases related to the Da Nang outbreak.
* Also on August 6, more donation was made to support Da Nang in the fight against COVID-19. The donation included over VND10 billion in cash and medical supplies from relevant banks, agencies and companies.
* Recently, Deputy Defence Minister, Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, received a batch of medicine from Cuba to help Vietnam in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The medicine, interferon Alfa 2B produced by Cuba, is of special importance in treating the severe cases of COVID-19. The whole batch was immediately transferred to Da Nang and Quang Nam.
