Speaking at the event, Chairman of the province’s chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Phan Huu Duc said that since the beginning of this year, the provincial front has actively mobilised every effort to support poor people in the locality, particularly in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and the fierce drought.
He updated the delegates that since 2019, the provincial Fund for the Poor has financed nearly VND20 billion for the construction and repair of nearly 679 social houses, more than VND33 billion for providing health check-ups and medicine to poor households, plus VND4 billion to minimise the damage caused by drought.
Ninh Thuan now has nearly 11,930 poor households and more than 14,170 near-poor households, with 5,000 of them facing housing difficulties, he reported.
He called on individuals and organisations across the province to promote solidarity and make donations for the Fund for the Poor in order to facilitate the implementation of social welfare and poverty reduction policies in the locality.
