Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand and Germany support flood victims in central Vietnam

The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand held a ceremony on November 1 to raise funds and receive donations from the Vietnamese community in Thailand to help flood-hit victims in central Vietnam overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand Trinh Cao Son expressed his sympathy for thelosses suffered by Vietnamese people in the central region, noting that the association launched a donation movement across all 26 member associations across Thailand and received a telling response from a large number of people.

The association granted a donation of approximately VND3.7 billion (US$160,000) to the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to provide for flood victims in Vietnam and the donations continues to arrive.

*Meanwhile, the Vietnamese community in Germany has also held various fund raising events to support those affected by the flooding in central Vietnam.

According to initial statistics, approximately VND9 billion (US$387,300) was donated.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany called on all of its staff and Vietnam’s representative agencies in Germany to make donations to assist people in central Vietnam severely hit by recent floods and landslides.

The embassy also called on other unions, organisations, enterprises and Vietnamese people in Germany to join hands to support flood victims.
