More support provided to flood-hit people

The Border Guard Command of Nghe An Province in coordination with Phuc La Ward in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District presented VND200 million (US$8,640)and one tonne of rice to people affected by flood in Hanh Lam Commune, Thanh Chuong District, in the central province of Nghe An.

On November 28 – 29, the delegation handed over VND200 million to the People’s Committee of Hanh Lam Commune to build a bridge across the spring to Chuyen Hamlet and presented VND10 million to 10 needy households severely damaged by the recent floods.

* On November 29, the Disaster Prevention Community Fund and the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee granted 60 “For Green Future” scholarships to 60 disadvantaged students in flood-hit areas in Quang Ngai Province.

The Disaster Prevention Community Fund also presented teaching equipment worth VND400 million (US$17,300) to four primary and secondary schools affected by the typhoon No.9 in the province.

*On the same day, the Disaster Prevention Community Fund also handed over 40 “For Green Future” scholarships to 40 needy students in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province and 40 saving books, worth VND10 million each, to extremely disadvantage students affected by floods in the province.

The Disaster Prevention Community Fund and the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee also granted VND300 million (US$13,000) to three local schools hit by floods in the province to buy teaching equipment.

*Dong A University in Da Nang granted scholarships worth VND12 billion (US$520,100) to new students and nearly VND300 million to students hit by floods on the opening ceremony of the new school year on November 28.
