Labour minister presents Tet gifts to Binh Duong workers

Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged workers in the southern province of Binh Duong on January 19, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

At the Binh Duong Culture and Labour Centre, Minister Dung and Binh Duong Chairman Nguyen Hoang Thao presented 150 gifts, including essential goods and VND1 million in cash, to workers.

According to the Binh Duong Labour Union, in addition to the gifts presented to workers currently working at local enterprises, it is also offering free bus tickets to take 4,000 workers home for Tet.

Speaking at the event, Minister Dung praised trade unions at all levels in Binh Duong Province for paying attention to the lives of workers so that they can make contributions to the province’s economic development.

In Nghe An Province, an event was held on January 19 to honour benefactors to the poor, during which VND89 billion (US$3.86 million) was raised to support poor people throughout the upcoming Lunar New Year.

On the same day, former Vice President Truong My Hoa visited and presented gifts to poor households and underprivileged students in Dong Thap Province.

She also offered incense to Nguyen Sinh Sac, the father of President Ho Chi Minh, and visited soldiers at the Binh Thanh Border Station.
