The Deputy PM and representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and provincial leaders handed 100 gifts to policy beneficiaries and another 100 to disadvantaged workers.
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Dung appreciated the achievements Phu Tho has obtained in the most recent tenure, urging the province to pay greater attention to bettering its investment environment, improving people’s lives, developing new-style rural areas, and accelerating industrialisation and modernisation associated with urbanisation.
Given the complicated developments of COVID-19, Phu Tho needs to focus on preventing and combating the pandemic, expanding care for disadvantaged subjects across the province, and ensuring a happy and warm Tet for local people, especially national contributors, war invalids, fallen soldiers’ families, workers and needy households, he said.
Visiting the SOS Children’s Village Viet Tri, Deputy PM Dung encouraged the village to continue promoting its traditions, while mobilising and effectively utilising resources and assistance from individuals and organisations to take care of and educate disadvantaged children.
On the same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh paid a pre-Tet visit to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, during which she presented 100 gifts to cancer patients being treated at the hospital.

The Vice President highly appreciated the achievements that Bach Mai Hospital has attained, expressing her hopes that it will continue to develop further and be worthy of its position as a leading unit in providing comprehensive and professional examination, treatment and care services for the people.
She wished the staff of the hospital and patients a warm and peaceful Tet festival and a happy and lucky new year, while encouraging cancer patients to maintain their confidence and optimism, with a view to soon recovering and reuniting with their families.
On January 20, at the An Nghiep Industrial Park, the Labour Confederation of Soc Trang Province presented 1,436 Tet gifts totally worth VND770 million (roughly US$33,400) and nine houses with a total value of VND350 million (US$15,180) to disadvantaged trade union members and workers.
The same day, a delegation from the Cao Bang provincial authorities, led by the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Lai Xuan Mon, visited and presented Tet gifts to ethnic minority communities in Tan Tien Hamlet, Minh Tam Commune, Nguyen Binh District. The delegation presented gifts to 68 local households and 100 bicycles worth VND150 million to 100 students.

On January 20, in Thu Dau Mot City, the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee organised a “Tet for the Poor 2021” programme, during which provincial leaders presented more than 600 gifts worth VND1.3 million each to disadvantaged people, poor households, Agent Orange victims, people with disabilities, and workers living away from home.
