On March 2, the People's Committee of Hai Duong Province issued a decision on ending the blockade over the whole province, including Chi Linh City and Cam Giang District, as the outbreak in the latest hotspot of new wave of COVID-19 infections in Vietnam has now been put under control.
The whole province now turns to a new normal state with strict prevention and control over the epidemic still in place, while some communes, villages and residential areas that are implementing medical blockades will continue to do so until further notice.
Also, on March 2, the Standing Committee of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee assigned the establishment of district-level response teams with the participation of relevant forces to deal with emergency medical situations that may arise after lifting the medical lockdown from Hai Duong at 0:00 today. The teams are tasked with promptly tracing, isolating, zoning and taking samples for COVID-19 testing, while actively advising local authorities in fighting against the epidemic at district level.
In order to facilitate Hai Duong students studying in other provinces and cities to return to school after the lockdown, the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee in Hai Duong has decided to carry out COVID-19 testing for them. Hai Duong Centre for Disease Control conducts the tests and returns the results within 24 hours of receiving the samples.
On March 2, Hanoi students were permitted to back to school after a COVID-19 temporary leave. The epidemic prevention is thoroughly implemented across local schools to ensure students’ safety. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has also issued documents instructing Hanoi schools to carry out necessary measures to ensure safety for students when they return to schools.
The Ministry of Transport has decided to allow Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh to reopen from this morning after the COVID-19 pandemic has been put under control in the locality and the airport is safe to transport passengers. Budget carrier Vietjet Air resumed its flights to Van Don Airport, with Flight VJ230 from Ho Chi Minh City to be the first to land at the airport this morning following the shutdown. The carrier plans to conduct four round-trip flights on the route each week in March. The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will also resume flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh from March 3 to 17, with one weekly flight on Wednesdays. Flight numbers will be increased to three a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, from March 18 until the end of the year.
Quang Ninh officially reopened its tourism activities from March 2, starting with local tourists. Travel firms and tourist sites are asked to ensure safety for visitors, and strictly follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K message of khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering) and khai bao y te (health declaration).
On March 2, a mission from the Ministry of Health inspected the prevention and control of COVID-19 in some local businesses and industrial zones in Hung Yen Province. They proposed that the province develop an effective epidemic prevention and control plan in local industrial parks, organise training on epidemic prevention for enterprises’ medical staff, and perform well in the dual tasks of fighting the epidemic and developing local economy.
Also on March 2, the People's Committee of Kon Tum Province issued a document to suspend the operation of local COVID-19 checkpoints from 17:00 that day.
