Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement while working with the Vietnam National Universities (VNU), both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, in Ho Chi Minh City on April 22.

He also asked management agencies at all levels to promptly remove difficulties to further the process of university autonomy.

The Deputy PM noted both universities have made important progress in the university rankings as well as in their scientific research results.

The universities need to build a roadmap to become leading scientific research and training centres in the near future, he added.

The Deputy PM stressed the enhancement of international cooperation and exchanges among lecturers and students in foreign universities around the world.

On the same day, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam announced the PM’s Decision to appoint Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan as the Director of the VNU, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that with the consensus of the units, and the support of agencies at all levels and its new leader, the VNU, Ho Chi Minh City, will achieve the set goals.
