Finance Ministry raises over VND320 billion for COVID-19 vaccine fund

The Ministry of Finance received VND326 billion (US$14.1 million) worth of donations on June 11 from the financial and other sectors for the national COVID-19 vaccine fund.

Property developer the Sun Group gave VND300 billion, the S-Generation fund VND20 billion, the State Treasury VND3 billion, the Vietnam Lottery Company (Vietlott) VND2 billion, and the Vietnam Debt and Asset Trading Corporation VND1 billion.

Vietnam is projected to need 150 million doses of vaccine to inoculate about 75 million people at an estimated cost of VND25.2 trillion (nearly US$1.1 billion).

According to the management board of the fund, as of 11am on June 11 it had received a total of VND4.3 trillion from 267,928 organisations and individuals.
