Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh made this statement while working with the GI in Hanoi on May 6.
At the working session, the Politburo member was briefed on the operation of the GI and the inspectorate sector in the first six months of 2017.
Inspection activities have been improved across all levels, from central to grassroots. In particular, the inspection work has seen positive changes in detection, prevention, the handling of violations and the settlement of complaints and denunciations.
The inspectorate sector has carried out almost 3,850 administrative inspections and over 136,000 specialised inspections, detecting infringements totalling VND29 trillion (US$ billion), as well as inspecting nearly 5,000 hectares of land and proposing punishments on 724 collectives and 22 individuals.
49 cases, involving 113 individuals, have been transferred to investigation agencies for criminal proceedings.
It has helped administrative agencies receive over 197,000 citizens, who have filed approximately 88,000 complaints and denunciations, the report cited.
Speaking at the session, Deputy PM Binh highlighted the sector’s achievements over the past few years, praising its efforts, the performance of its functions and its great contributions to enhancing State management across a wide range of fields.
He also urged the sector to further strengthen the role of the GI in order to improve the efficiency of State management and to effectively prevent and fight against corruption.
The sector should continue with its efforts to improve the reception of citizens and the handling of complaints and accusations, he noted.
