He told a conference on July 26 that Vietnam’s crime problems will remain complicated towards the end of the year and stronger action is required to protect social order, especially at the APEC Summit and related meetings.
The Deputy PM urged for concentrated efforts to combat organised and armed crimes, child harassment, human trafficking, murder, robbery, economic crimes, cybercrimes, illegal mining and drug trafficking.
He also called for measures to prevent crimes from happening and raise public awareness on crime prevention and combat.
According to Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quy Vuong, the number of criminal cases dropped in the first half of 2017, but severity of cases remained high, especially in the rise of organised crimes and attacks against officers on duty.
He added that there was also a rise in child sexual harassment and drug trafficking, with large amounts of drugs smuggled into Vietnam from Laos and China.
