Phan Van Anh Vu wanted nationwide for disclosing State secrets

The Ministry of Public Security has issued a wanted notice for Phan Van Anh Vu, a business tycoon from the central city of Da Nang, for “deliberately disclosing state secrets.”

Colonel Le Van Tam, director of the Da Nang Police Department, said that, on December 22, Da Nang police began the hunt for Phan Van Anh Vu, born November 2, 1975 in Da Nang, across all police departments in the city.

Earlier the same day, at Vu's house, No. 82 Tran Quoc Toan street, Hai Chau 1 ward, Hai Chau district, the Investigative Security Agency (under the Ministry of Public Security) in collaboration with Da Nang Police announced the decision No. 47/ANĐT-P5, dated December 20, to prosecute Vu for “deliberately disclosing state secrets,” violating Article 263 of the Penal Code. The decision to prosecute the accused was announced in the presence of Vu’s relatives and representatives of the local government.

Since Vu, also known as Vu “nhom” (aluminum), was not present at his home or his company, following the publication of the decision to initiate the prosecution, the Investigative Security Agency also announced the wanted notice No. 222/ANĐT signed by Major General Ly Anh Dung, deputy head of the Investigative Security Agency.

Earlier, on the evening of December 21, the police searched Vu’s house and seized important documents.
