The statement was made by President Tran Dai Quang while working with the VLA in Hanoi, on January 19.

Speaking at the working session, the President appreciated the development of the association in terms of its organisation and number of members.

He also emphasised that the VLA should actively participate in developing policies and laws, as well as scientific legal research, judicial and administrative reform and legal consultancy, therefore contributing to implementing the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and laws.

It is essential to further boost free legal consultancy and aid for the poor, ethnic minority people, policy beneficiaries and vulnerable groups in society, added the State leader.

He highlighted the proactive coordination with the judicial agencies to train, foster and select a number of judicial titles and people's juries.

President Quang called for the expansion of international cooperation from the VLA, significantly contributing to the country’s external affairs. In addition, the association should pay greater attention to Party building at all levels.

He also asked the relevant ministries and agencies to consider and settle proposals of the VLA on important issues, including external activities, judicial work, legal consultancy and aid.
