Attending the ceremony were representatives from the neighbouring Attapeu and Se Kong provinces of Laos.
The 17 individuals who acquired Vietnamese nationality through the President’s decision are Lao citizens who has been freely migrated and got married without legal documents in the Vietnam-Laos border area. All are currently living in 11 villages, belonging to the three communes of Dak Long, Dak Mon and Dak Nhoong in Dak Glei district, Kon Tum province.
On May 22, the Ministry of Justice will also coordinate with the Kon Tum authorities to present the President's decision grating Vietnamese citizenship for 21 individuals currently residing in seven villages in the three communes of Dak Duc, Dak Nong and Bo Y in Ngoc Hoi district.
According to Decision No. 561, dated April 3, 2019 by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, there are a total of 38 individuals residing in 18 villages, belonging to the six communes of Dak Glei and Ngoc Hoi districts in Kon Tum province, to be granted Vietnamese citizenship as per the decision of the State President.
