74th anniversary of Vietnamese Lawyers’ Day marked

The Vietnam Bar Federation (VBF) organised a ceremony in Hanoi on October 10 to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the Vietnamese Lawyers’ Day (October 10, 1945 - 1919) and 10th founding anniversary the VBF.

The ceremony saw the presence of Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh as well as member of the Party Central Committee and National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh praised positive contributions made by the VBF, lawyers and organisations to the cause of national construction, defence and international integration.

The Deputy PM asked the VBF to continue to actively implement the provisions of the Law on Lawyers in 2006, which were amended and supplemented in 2012. The federation should also continue to review professional ethical rules and promptly complete and supplement them to suit the requirements of the new situation; and prepare for the organisation of the third congress of the federation, he noted.

Deputy PM Binh also urged the Ministry of Justice, relevant ministries, branches, localities and agencies to continue to support, coordinate closely and create favourable conditions for the VBF and lawyers to operate in accordance with the law and the federation’s regulations.

On the occasion, on behalf of the Government, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh presented the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit to the VBF for their achievements in developing the contingent of lawyers, contributing to the protection of justice, socialist legislation, and the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.
