Phan, who was in Vietnam to attend the World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 (WEF ASEAN), agreed to coordinate with Vietnam in boosting efforts towards the Mekong River basin’s common goal of using the river water resources in a sustainable and effective manner.

At the reception, PM Phuc proposed the MRC promote its role in accelerating the implementation of the basin cooperation strategy and set out orientations and measures to achieve sustainable development goals.

The commission should enhance cooperation mechanisms inside and outside the region as affirmed in the Siem Riep Declaration adopted at the third MRC Summit held in Cambodia last April, he said.
