All the four players had been named in Park Hang-seo’s starting squad for the title match against Indonesia, with Van Hau and Hung Dung getting on the scoresheet in their 3-0 victory.

“The 20-year-old left-back was star of the men’s football final not only by keeping the Indonesian wingers at bay, but also by scoring twice to gift Vietnam their first-ever gold medal in SEA Games,” the FOX Sports Asia author wrote about defender Doan Van Hau.

“Doan Van Hau might be struggling to find his way into the first team at his new Dutch Eredivisie club SC Heerenveen, but with a brilliant outing in the tournament has proved once again that he is one of the best defenders in business today in Southeast Asia,” he emphasised.

Meanwhile, FOX Sports Asia spoke highly of Do Hung Dung’s role due to his abundant experience. After Nguyen Quang Hai suffered an injury in the group match against Singapore, Hung Dung was entrusted by coach Park Hang-seo with the armband of Vietnam U22s, and in the new position, the Hanoi FC midfielder continued to prove his value.

Writing about Hung Dung’s role, the author said: “The 26-year-old midfielder was one of the two overage players Park Hang-seo picked for the SEA Games 2019 and Do Hung Dung has justified the selection playing in the midfield with an air of composure amongst his younger teammates. Hung Dung, who was also given the added responsibility of captaincy following an injury to Nguyen Quang Hai, capped off a brilliant tournament scoring the second goal in their 3-0 win over Indonesia in the final at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.”

In the attacking line, both Tien Linh and Duc Chinh showed brilliant form. It’s been said that Forward Ha Duc Chinh will remain an important element in Park’s plans for the 2020 AFC U23 Championship in Thailand. Meanwhile, Tien Linh has been considered a rising star of Southeast Asian football following his shining display in both the Vietnam U22 and senior national teams.

In addition to four players of Vietnam U22s, the remaining seven names in FOX Sports Asia’s SEA Games Best XI included Sann Satt Naing (Myanmar, goalkeeper), Amani Aguinaldo (Philippines, defender), Asnawi Bahar (Indonesia, defender), Sieng Chanthea (Cambodia, midfielder), Myat Kaung Khant (Myanmar, midfielder), Saddil Ramdani (Indonesia, forward) and Osvaldo Haay (Indonesia, forward).
