The reality has affirmed that the birth of the CPV was a glorious milestone in the history of Vietnam. The founding of the CPV was an inevitable turning point in history, the result of the development of the Vietnamese workers and patriotic movements combined with Marxism-Leninism, the foundation of which was laid by President Ho Chi Minh.
Under the Party’s leadership, our people have united to create an immense strength and steer the boat of the Vietnamese revolution to ride out tremendous challenges and reach the shore of glory. They include the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, the victory of the French resistance war in 1954, and the victory of the American resistance war, with the pinnacle being the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975 which reunified the country on the path of socialism. Over the past 35 years of reform, the entire Party, people and armed forces have united to record historically significant achievements.
During its leadership of the Vietnamese revolution, the CPV has always deserved to be the pioneer of the working people and the whole nation. Looking back at the Party’s history, we are more determined to safeguard the significant accomplishments of the revolution. We highly appreciate the contributions and heroic sacrifices of generations of Party members and compatriots for the Party’s ideals.
We also express our profound gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, who founded, led and trained the Party. History has affirmed that the Party’s sound leadership is a crucial factor in all victories of the Vietnamese revolution. At the same time, during the process of shouldering such a heavy yet glorious responsibility, the Party has continually trained itself and accumulated many valuable lessons, cherishing its glorious tradition and fulfilling the historical mission entrusted by the nation and the people.
With the proud achievements recorded in the tenure of the 12th Congress and in celebration of the Party’s 91st founding anniversary, the great success of another Congress has helped reinforce confidence and created new momentum for the entire Party, people and armed force to overcome challenges, take advantage of opportunities and successfully realise the resolution of the 13th Congress and the national development strategy until 2030, with a vision towards 2045, bringing the country to a new period of development. We are not complacent with the results and achievements recorded because the targets for 2021 and the next tenure are very high, while the country is still facing a great deal of tough challenges.
During these days, the celebratory atmosphere is spreading all across the nation and the Party’s ideas are in line with the people’s wishes. The entire Party, people and armed forces will join hands to get a good grasp of and effectively implement the resolution of the 13th Congress.
Upholding the patriotic and revolutionary tradition and the spirit of solidary and responsibility, the efforts and creativity of all the people, sectors, localities and economic sectors are important factors in the country’s development. We are determined to rectify the Party so that it can become cleaner and stronger. First and foremost, Party committees and organisations need to research and gain a firm grasp of the Congress documents, concentrate efforts on implementing action programmes, and launch patriotic emulation movements with substantive actions among the people. At the same time, it is necessary to enhance the Party’s leadership and combat capacity to meet the demanding requirements and tasks as well as the trust and expectations of the people.
With considerable experience, a 90-year-plus glorious tradition, being on the right path that matches the people’s wishes, and upholding the great national solidarity, the strong aspiration of rising up and strong political determination, Vietnam will surely be able to create new development miracles, for the goal of wealthy people and a strong, democratic, just and civilised country, staying firm on the path towards socialism, successfully realising President Ho Chi Minh’s desire and the whole nation’s dream.
