Teams and forces participating in Army Games 2021 honoured

The Ministry of Defence held a ceremony at the Mieu Mon National Training Centre in Hanoi on October 14 to praise and commend the Vietnam People's Army Delegation who recently participated in the international military sports festival (Army Games) 2021.

The Army Games 2021 drew the participation of 175 teams from 42 countries and territories around the world. Teams competed in 34 competitions, of which Vietnam participated in 15 events with 223 coaches and athletes.

The Vietnam People's Army delegation competed confidently and won a total of 56 collective and individual awards. Of which, Vietnam secured 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals, ranking 7th out of 42 countries and territories participating in the Games.

Vietnam successfully organised the Military Medical Relay Race and Sniper Frontier contests.

In his speech, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of Defence, member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong highly lauded the sense of responsibility and effort made by teams and forces who have actively practiced and competed in the Games, as well as the successfully organised related events.

At the ceremony, 30 collectives and 43 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Defence; 41 collectives and 265 individuals were honoured with Certificates of Merit from the Chief of General Staff; and 25 collectives and 130 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the General Department of Politics.
