Nhan Dan Newspaper national table tennis tourney attracts nearly 170 players

Nearly 170 players from teams across the country will compete in the 40th Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships, scheduled to take place at the Gia Lai Gymnasium in the Central Highlands city of Pleiku from July 11 to 17, as heard at a press conference in Hanoi on July 5.

The championships will be co-hosted by the Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, and the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Addressing the press briefing, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh stated that the annual event offers a great opportunity for players to sharpen their skills, while contributing to the discovery of promising talents for the national teams in preparation for future international and regional competitions.

An overview of the press conference

The competitors will be vying for seven sets of medals in the men’s and women’s singles, doubles and team events, and the mixed doubles category.

The tournament is expected to entertain fans with exciting matches between most of Vietnam’s leading players in the sport, including Nguyen Anh Tu, Nguyen Duc Tuan, Doan Ba Tuan Anh, Le Dinh Duc, Dinh Anh Hoang, Tran Mai Ngoc, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, Bui Ngoc Lan, Vu Hoai Thanh, and Nguyen Thi Nga, alongside many other potential young faces.

In addition, the organising committee will present prizes to the miss beauty of the tournament, and winners of a photo contest on beautiful moments of the championships.
