40th Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships opens in Gia Lai

The 40th Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championships officially opened at the Gia Lai Gymnasium in the Central Highlands city of Pleiku on July 12.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh stated that the annual event offers a great opportunity for players to sharpen their skills, while contributing to the discovery of promising talents for the national teams in preparation for future international and regional competitions.

The tourney which has attracted the participation of nearly 170 players from 16 teams across the country is taking place in the context that Vietnam has just successfully organised the 31st Southeast Asian Games, creating a great resonance among regional and international friends, he noted.

Co-hosted by Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, and the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the tournament is expected to entertain fans with exciting matches between most of Vietnam’s leading players.

In addition, the organising committee will present prizes to the tournament’s miss beauty, and winners of a photo contest on beautiful moments during the championship.
