VFF Vice Chairman to head football managing team at 2014 Asian Games

Nhan Dan Online – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan has been appointed as head of the management team of men’s and women’s football at the upcoming 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Republic of Korea (RoK).

The VFF Vice Chairman responsible for expertise, Tuan currently works as a member of the FIFA Futsal Department, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Standing Committee and the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Council.

Tuan has won the trust of AFC thanks to his abundant experience in managing the continent’s major football tournaments.

Most recently, Tuan was assigned to lead an AFC team to inspect infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates – one of the candidates for hosting the 2019 Asian Games.

He was also successful as head of the ASEAN Football Federation’s (AFF) management team for the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup in Malaysia, before becoming the first representative of Vietnam and Asia to be appointed to the management board of the FIFA Futsal World Cup finals, in 2012.

The appointment reinforces the AFC’s confidence in the VFF leader and indicates the increasing prestige and status of Vietnamese football in Asia.

The 17th Asian Games – Incheon 2014 is scheduled to open on September 19, with football matches taking place from September 14 to October 2.
