>> Vissai Ninh Binh reach 2014 AFC Cup quarterfinals
Hanoi deployed fierce attacks from the start, with their spirit strongly boosted by home fans. It was not until the 34th minute that Hector took a convenient pass from Samson and broke the deadlock for the Vietnamese team.
Samson doubled Hanoi’s advantage with his successful effort on the stroke of half-time.
The two-goal deficit caused the visitors’ spirit and confidence to die down in the second half, enabling Thach Bao Khanh, Samson and Thanh Luong to add three additional goals for Hanoi T&T in the 65th, 69th and 90th minutes.
With this victory, Hanoi became the second Vietnamese teams to reach the 2014 AFC Cup quarterfinals, besides XM The Vissai Ninh Binh, who beat India’s Churchill Brothers 4-2 on May 13.
In the quarterfinal round, each tie is played on a home-and-away, two-leg basis, with the first leg scheduled on August 19 and the second leg taking place a week later.
