The hotline will provide locals and tourists with information relating to the ABG5 in both Vietnamese and English, and support members of participating delegations and foreign visitors in their travel and daily activities.
It also aims to receive rescue requests in emergencies and send them to authorised agencies to be dealt with in a timely manner during the eleven days of the competition.
On the same day, the organising committee conducted the draw for the five sports, including football, handball, three-on-three basketball, kabaddi and sepak takraw. The draw results will be published on the Games’ official website, www.abg2016.com.
The ABG5 is expected to bring together about 2,500 athletes representing 42 countries and territories from across Asia.
A total of 172 sets of medals will be available for 22 events, including swimming, water polo, kabaddi, men’s football, volleyball, handball, three-on-three basketball, sepak takraw, wrestling, Vietnamese martial arts, sambo, jujitsu, kurash, pencak silat, vovinam, muay thai, badminton, pétanque, bodybuilding, woodball, rowing and track and field.
Athletes will compete at four major venues, namely East Sea Park, My Khe Beach, Phuong Trang Project Area and Son Thuy Seaside Resort.
As the host, Vietnam is targeting a place in the leading group at the ABG5. At the 2014 Games in Phuket, Thailand, Vietnam ended up in fifth place overall, winning a total of eight gold, twelve silver and twenty bronze medals.
In order to create favourable conditions for the athletes, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has agreed to exempt visa fees for individuals participating in the ABG5.
