Pham Kim Nhan was crowned the gold medallist in the up-to-and-including-158cm category, while Nguyen Hai Au, Sa Pha and Mai Xuan Thuc clinched the supreme titles in the up-to-and-including-165cm, up-to-and-including-168cm and up-to-and-including-180cm events respectively.
The two silver medal winners included Le Hoai Thuong in the up-to-and-including-162cm and Nguyen Minh Tien in the up-to-and-including-176cm discipline, while the only bronze medal was won by Nguyen Truong Giang in the up-to-and-including-168cm category.
Athletics added a gold medal to Vietnam’s tally as Vu Thi Men won the women’s triple jump final with a distance of 13.11 metres. Men’s fellow, Tran Hue Hoa, claimed the silver in the same event at 13.06 metres. The women’s 4x60m relay team bagged another silver medal with a time of 29.16 seconds, while the men’s 4x60m relay team were promoted to third place for a bronze in replacement of rule violators from China.
Vietnam’s shuttlecock players dominated the singles events as Dinh Van Duc and Nguyen Thi Anh Nguyet were crowned the men’s and women’s champions following their respective 2-0 victories against Thailand’s Praphan Mainoi and China’s Lin Xiuting.
The pencak silat team secured two gold medals for the host country after winning the men’s and women’s Regu finals with 463 and 467 points respectively.
Woodball accounted for Vietnam’s last gold of the day as Nguyen Huyen Trang, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Phan Thi Thuong and Phung Thi Thuong knocked down their Chinese opponents with a score of 2-1 in the women’s fairway team final.
Concluding the fourth day of competition, Vietnam continued to sit firmly on top of the rankings with 28 gold, 23 silver and 28 bronze medals, followed by Thailand with 24 gold and China with eight gold.
