Nam’s promotion was anticipated, as he won the men’s singles crown at the recent Vietnam F5 Futures tournament in Binh Duong province, where he paired with fellow Hoang Thien to claim the doubles title as well.

The previous career best of the nineteen-year-old boy was when he attained the 850th position in late August.

Nam is expected to break into the world’s top 700 in next week’s ATP rankings, which will incorporate the two additional points he earned as a quarterfinalist in the recent Vietnam F6 Futures tournament.

The Vietnamese star is aiming to etch his name in the top 500 tennis players in the world by the end of this year’s season.
